Crabbe Mountain - New Brunswick's favourite ski hill!

The 852-foot vertical drop of the mountain has even caught the attention of the 2023 Canada Games. As part of the 2023 event taking place in Prince Edward Island February 18 to March 5, 2023, Crabbe Mountain will host the alpine and freestyle ski events! Crabbe’s impressive vertical and diverse terrain makes it the perfect venue for this portion of the games. Spectators are invited to join in the action.

But don’t worry, you don’t have to be an expert to enjoy Crabbe this winter. Here are some trails, from beginner to expert, that you can’t miss during your next visit to the mountain.

1. Dineen's Ravine - Beginner

This run is highly recommended for a family with younger skiers or beginners looking for a long, leisurely run. Dineen’s Ravine skirts around the far end of Crabbe. This long run features a consistent, winding right-bending shape. This trail is perfect for easy skiing. Take note to your weather conditions though as this run doesn’t feature snowmaking but is a fan favorite and a great place to practice your craving.

2. Hume's Flume - Difficult

Hume’s Flume is one of Crabbe’s seven difficult-rated trails. It features night skiing and snowmaking so this fan favorite will very likely be open for your visit. This is a relatively straight run that heads from the top of the lift to the very bottom. It connects to run number 16, a snow cross-course which is a black diamond for those skiers looking to up the difficulty of Hume’s Flume. This trail is decently wide and often features little side kickers for those looking to spice things up.

3. The Glades - Difficult/ Very Difficult

This run is a Crabbe regular’s favourite due to its intricacies and modularity. The glades trail itself starts as a difficult rated trail and transitions at the bottom half into a very difficult trail. At the top half, have options to spin off into Little Brave (Difficult) and War Dance (Very Difficult). Expect kickers off the sides of this run. There is no snow making or lights featured on this run but if conditions allow, it’s an absolute must for the more experience skiers.

4. King's Horn - Very Difficult

The King’s Horn is one of the most popular runs at Crabbe. It steers down the heart of hill featuring big vertical sections for the speed junkies. It’s a great run for more intermediate to advanced skiers and boarders as it’s rather wide but quite steep. Don’t expect much modularity to your run as King’s Horn only connects to Chair Line (which offers a steep decent with a narrower width). You can ski this relatively straight run under the lights and it will be open in most conditions due to snow making. This trail runs down along the chairlift and t-bar lift.

5. Harold's Fun Run - Experts Only

For the more seasoned skiier, Harold’s Fun Run is an absolute must. This is not recommended for beginners and, contrary to the name, it will not be fun if you aren’t ready for it. Harold’s Fun Run is one of two double black diamond rated trails. From the top of the lift, out to the right, a quick right-hand whip put skiers into steep run with a very slight s-shape that sits on the inside of the easy-riding Dineen’s Ravine. There is no snow making or lights on this run but if you have the chops to hit it, you’re going to love it!

Now that you’ve got an overview of the trail guide, let’s talk about the rest of your visit. Crabbe is more of a resort than a just a ski hill. The newly renovated lodge is home of the Thirsty Boot,  serving up mouthwatering meals, pub classics, and craft brews as cold as Harold’s Fun Run.
