Hot spots for cold treats in Fredericton this summer!

Whether you prefer a cone or a dish, one scoops or three - everyone agrees - summer is synonymous with ice cream! Whatever your personal preference, here's a list of ice cream spots in and around Fredericton that is sure to bring a sticky smile to your face.
Queen Street Creamery at Gallery 78
The makers of Fredericton’s well-loved Chess Piece Pâtisserie & Café (rated one of Canada’s top 20 bakeries by Huffington Post) offer an authentic ice cream truck serving up delicious, cool artisanal treats. They’ve got fun flavours like strawberry rhubarb and cinnamon bun – make sure you have a try at their waffle cone! The best part about this nostalgic travelling ice cream joint? Everything is made from scratch with as many local ingredients as possible!
Riverhaven Red Barn
If you’re heading toward Fredericton Junction, perhaps on your way to a covered bridge tour in the southern half of the province, Riverhaven Red Barn is a must-stop! You can grab a classic cone of ice cream or try one of their tasty specials. We hear that their infamous funnel cake, topped with a scoop of ice cream, whipped topping and HOMEMADE strawberry sauce is a drool worthy choice.
Teddy's Two Scoops
When hitting the trails, Teddy's Two Scoop's is a must! Stop in for snacks and refreshments from Teddy's Two Scoops ice cream shack located beside the lighthouse, or sit down on the Lighthouse by 540's brand new patio and have a delicious meal and some local brews!
The Shake Shed Freddy
Bringing you a shed load of shakes and desserts is Fredericton’s gourmet micro-shakery – The Shake Shed Freddy! A cure for your insatiable sweet tooth offering an array of elaborate insta-worthy milkshakes as well as your childhood favourites!
The Happy Baker Market & Cafe
Affectionately known as the former name “Tingley’s”, The Happy Baker operates this location where one side is the delicious pastries that they are known for, and the other is over 40 flavours of ice cream. We usually make a plan to bike to their Dundonald Street location (not as guilty since we are getting some exercise!)
Delish Gourmet Rolled Ice Cream
This spot puts a twist (literally) on everyone’s favourite frozen treat. And it all happens right before your eyes! Watch as staff prepare your dish from scratch, finishing with a masterpiece of rolled ice cream. There’s 20 different kinds to choose from and dessert waffle options that make your mouth water. It tastes as good as it looks – and that’s saying a lot!
Lincoln Dari Delite
Located on 2180 Lincoln Road, Dari Delite has been in operation for over 50 years! They serve soft ice cream and popular choices such as parfaits, sundaes and milkshakes! The building is reminiscent of ice cream huts from days gone by, and something that particularly caught my eye is that they offer a peanut butter cone dip flavor (among others)!
Skinny’s Scoop
If you are ever in the Keswick area, you will definitely notice this iconic ice cream shop. It’s bright red exterior with a petting zoo and kids’ play area and of course, ice cream! With menu selections such as “Worms and Dirt” and “Skinny’s Supreme” (not sure how many scoops that means), it is worth the 15 minute trip to this little spot on route 105.
JPM Canteen & Dairy Bar
Huge scoop alert! When we visited JPM recently, one of us ordered a medium ice cream. They asked “are you sure you want a medium?” We said yes. Now we know. This is the ice cream of monumental proportions! With countless selections, be very aware of how much ice cream you really want. If you are experiencing a HUGE hankering and you are very hungry? Medium it is!
Moxon’s Country Pumpkin
Moxon’s is a favourite stop on route 105 in Maugerville with their farm animals and fresh vegetables, but they also sell a selection of hard ice cream! A perfect opportunity to enjoy a treat and visit with the alpacas and goats (psst…if you ask nicely, they might give you some greens for the animals to munch on!)
POPcycle
POPcycle is Fredericton's newest popsicle bike stand! You can catch this crew around the parks and trails as they wheel the streets and deal cold treats! Either book the POPcycle or watch for their Facebook updates to find out where they are!
The Cone Zone
If you’re heading to one of Fredericton’s fine campgrounds, you might want to consider making a pit stop at this classic Freddy location on your way! The Cone Zone offers over 25 flavours and some massive scoops (you'll be surprised by how large the "small" is)! Located at 1876 Woodstock Rd., the big blue house and the line of hungry ice cream goers is hard to miss!
Cruze Scooters
Just when we thought E-Scooters couldn't get any cooler, Cruze Scooters now offers ice cream at their Smyth street location! After a long day on the trails, this is the perfect place to stop in for a scoop!
Fancy Bites by Nancy
Nestled on the Northside of Fredericton, Fancy Bites by Nancy specializes in deliciously handcrafted artisan bon bons -- and not to mention, homemade ice cream bars for when you fancy something special!
Buttercream Dreams
Attention all waffle cone enthusiasts! You will want to try a scoop of Buttercream Dreams' homemade ice cream in one of their famous bubble waffle cones. This gourmet dessertery is another Northside gem, and believe me when I say that their ice cream is a dream come true!
