Whether you are out snowshoeing along our 120 km of trails, cross country skiing in one of our local parks, or basking in Fredericton’s beauty via the Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge, we here in Fredericton are blessed with nature’s bounty, especially when it comes to stunning winter sunset and sunrise views.
Sunsets and Silhouettes
We will begin our list of favorite winter sunrise and sunset views on Fredericton’s Northside. Carleton Park is no stranger to locals, who know that here, you can witness a prime sunset view, featuring the silhouette of Fredericton’s city scape.
Warm up with Craft Beer
A hop, skip and jump away you will find the Picaroons Roundhouse, a must-visit for any craft beer lover, this taproom offers an array of their own craft beer on tap, as well as a dynamic selection of over 100 craft beverages from NB breweries at all times – you can even grab a bite to eat from the on-site restaurant, 540 North. You can take in the sunset from inside the taproom via the Roundhouses’ south facing picture windows, or enjoy it cozied up next to one of their outdoor firepits. The View from Center Stage
Continue along the trail for what might arguably be, the best sunset or sunrise view in the city! A hot spot for selfies at any given time, The Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge is in its prime during sunrise and sun-fall, offering a picturesque view of both the north and southside of Fredericton
Lakeside Views
There is lots to do at Killarney Lake during the winter months! A haven for cross country skiers, hikers, snowshoe adventures, or simply taking your dog for a walk, it’s worth an early AM or evening excursion to Killarney to take-in the sunrise and sunset views. Another great way to explore the outdoors is by checking out The UNB Woodlot! Whether by foot or fat bike, you are sure to be mesmerized by the winding paths, towering pine trees, trickling streams and, of course, sunrise and sunset views! We recommend taking in a showstopping sunset at the Beaver Pond, but there are lots of opportunities to catch the glowing lights through the trees and hill peaks. If you’re gearing up for sunset time, you could take this chance to grab a bite to eat from an uptown restaurants, or enjoy craft brew from Maybee Brewing or Grimross – a great opportunity to collect a stamp for your #FredTapTrail map!
