East Coast Music Awards to Return to Fredericton in 2022

FREDERICTON (NB): In a major announcement sure to be welcomed by music fans and Fredericton’s tourism sector, New Brunswick’s Capital city will host the 2022 East Coast Music Awards (ECMA) next spring. The announcement was made during the ECMA show this evening in Sydney, Nova Scotia. The event is one of the largest annual cultural events in Atlantic Canada, bringing hundreds of musicians and music industry professionals to the City.
The five-day musical celebration will take place May 4-8, 2022 and will showcase and recognize the best of East Coast artists and music, with public performances throughout the city. The ECMA’s also provide important networking and collaboration opportunities for singer songwriters, musicians, local performing artists, and industry professionals. It will be the second time the event has been held in Fredericton as the capital hosted the 20th annual event in 2008.

The ECMA Conference and Festival generates between $3 and $6 million in economic activity to the city and province. The schedule involves over 55 events and performances including award shows, musical showcases, workshops and international buyers’ program. In addition to 500 performing artists representing 200+bands, hundreds of volunteers will participate. The event is estimated to draw upwards of 14,000 visitors and fans from across Atlantic Canada, and music professionals from around the world.
