Kaylee Hopkins

As a "self-certified" gear nerd and nature enthusiast, Kaylee is the person to call on when it comes to outdoorsy adventures. She has been a devoted member of the local adventure outfitting shop, Radical Edge, for a handful of years and is always willing to get someone stoked about being outside; whether it be camping, hiking, rock climbing, paddling or cycling, she is in. As a co-founder of the Fredericton Flight Club (trail running group) she can point you in the direction of some of the greatest trails found inside the city limits. Although not native to Fredericton, her love for the city runs as deep as the mud under her shoes. If you've got the thirst for adventure, she'll find an outlet for you... and probably even tag along!

Explore Fredericton by Water!

‘Water Way’ To Spend the Day!
If there is one thing Fredericton is well known for in the summer, it’s the humidity. Luckily, there are plenty of spots around this great city where you can get your soak on. Fredericton is nestled along the Saint John River, making it a perfect place to be when the temperatures soar. Whether you are into paddling, boating or even just getting your tan on; it’s all right here. How much fun could you have on the water in one day you ask? Let’s find out!

Tubing Down the River
We’re all a little lazy in the mornings, so what better way to start your day than a cup of coffee and a relaxing float down the Nashwaak River. Tubing companies like Nashwaak Tubing rent inflatable tubes and offer a care-free float down the tributary of the Saint John. Shuttle services are included and trips can last from 1.5-3 hours depending on the package. Enjoy the scenic views and float your way back just in time for lunch. For more tubing fun, check out Taymouth Tubing and John's Village Toobing!

Boat Tour along the Saint John River
After you’ve visited the Lighthouse on The Green, descend the staircase and hop on over to book a River Tour with Wolastoq Boat Tours. Spend two hours cruising up and down the historical river with spectacular views of the Legislative Building, Christ Church Cathedral and many more iconic buildings along the shoreline.  Now licensed, you can even enjoy a cold beverage under the sun.

Kayak, Canoe and Paddle Board Rentals
Now that you’ve had a relaxing morning; it’s time to get yourself into shape. Head down to Second Nature Outdoors at the Small Craft Aquatic Center and rent a canoe, kayak or Stand Up Paddle board and get those muscles working.

Paddle solo, or take a guided tour down the river and weave through the many islands where you might even spot a Bald or Golden Eagle. Hourly rentals are available for small crafts and scheduled tours depart Saturday and Sunday at 1:30pm. Contact Second Nature Outdoors at 506-460-2260 for more information on paddle courses, guided tours and more.

Of course Fredericton has much more water around than just that! Try hiking to some waterfalls; lounge on the Mactaquac beach, take the kids for a slide at Hartt Island Water Park, or do laps at one of our many outdoor pools. There is plenty of warm weather left, so get out there and make a splash!
