The Cathedral cornerstone was laid in 1845 and modelled after the medieval parish church of St. Mary's at Snettisham, England. It was declared a National Historic Site in 1983. The Cathedral is one of the finest examples of decorated Gothic architecture in North America, and is the reason Fredericton was declared a city. Watch out for the ghost of Bishop Medley's wife who is said to still haunt the grounds.
