River Fun

Rowers on St. John RiverWith Fredericton being the navigational headwaters of the beautiful St. John River, more and more visitors from the lower St. John River and the United States arrive to the Capital by boat. The Regent St. Wharf is ideal for boaters who want to enjoy all that Downtown Fredericton has to offer.  Boaters will also find the Fredericton Yacht Club, which provides visitor moorings. There is also a variety of free boat launches in the city, as well as canoe and kayak rentals.

Pontoon Boat Ride
Relax and enjoy a 1-hour scenic tour of the beautiful pristine islands on the St. John River from a 12 passenger pontoon boat. Experience a world-class natural attraction, daily at 7:30pm. Hartt Island Campground along the River and on the walking/cycling trail, 9km from downtown.

Services include a security gate, water, dumping station, electrical hook-up, and a Port Warden on duty from 10 am to 10 pm daily, July and August (May, June and September, weekends only). Fees for overnight stay are $ 1.00/ft.

Located at 361 Lincoln Rd., just below the Princess Margaret Bridge
Tthe Fredericton Yacht Club offers temporary docking and a launch ramp. Visitor mooring facilities available July and August. .

CANOE & KAYAK RENTALS

Small Craft Aquatic Centre
Woodstock Rd.
On the banks of the St. John River, behind the Victoria Health Centre on Woodstock Road, is the Small Craft Aquatic Centre. The Centre offers a wide variety of programs to keep the whole family water-active. Canoe and kayak rentals are available. Guided nature tours are also available on the St. John River. Escaping to the wilderness is just a short paddle from Downtown Fredericton.
Hours: Open from mid May to end September / early-October. Hours vary.

Hartt Island / Bucket Club

Along the River Valley Scenic Drive, overlooking the beautiful St. John River and within five minutes of downtown.  This location offers tremendous opportunities to explore the St. John River. Canoe and kayak rentals, bike rental, and  9.4 km Valley Trail. Barbeque pits & picnic tables are provided.  Open from June to September

Garden Creek flows in a northerly direction down towards the "Rhine of New Brunswick". The plateau in the Fredericton area rises 100 to 150 meters above the river valley and this results in numerous cascades up and down the river valley in this area. Website
