Just 61 km from Downtown Fredericton is Briggs & Little Woolen Mills, Canada's oldest woolen mill! First started in 1857 by one of the original grant holders in the area, Briggs & Little has been a mainstay of York Mills near Harvey for almost 160 years. Explore the mill on a self-guided tour where you will be impressed with seeing the process of transforming wool from its raw form through washing, carding, dyeing, spinning and twisting to create many sought after colours and textures.
Few die-hard knitters can resist a final stop in the on-site yarn shop where all of the sizes and colours of yarn produced in the mill are showcased.
The Mill and Yarn Shop are open Monday to Friday, 8:00-5:00.
