Weave a Chakra Swirl Basket
Basket makers with some experience will want to join Lisa Fullarton for this rewarding workshop. The base of the bowl is a complex step by step pattern; the sides of the bowl are to stay fairly flat and executed in a twill pattern that is carefully applied with flat oval reed. Patience and perseverance will pay off in an absolutely amazing show piece for your home that you made yourself. The finished bowl will be approximately 15" across in diameter, and 4" in depth.
Instructor: Lisa Fullarton
Lisa began rediscovering artistic expression in 2011, when she opened Black Butterfly Studio with Black & White Mandalas and Zentangle inspired artwork. She sold work and taught classes locally until returning to school. Graduating in 2015 from the NB College of Craft and Design’s Aboriginal Visual Arts Program, she began to call on recently discovered family roots with a strong sense of spirituality and creativity blended with a passion for colour and love of traditional work. The result is one-of-a-kind pieces that are from her heart with a focus on a love of "visual texture" in tactile 3D work, such as carving and basketry.
She enjoys creating basketry products that may serve a practical purpose and represent fusion of function and fabulous design. Recently becoming a juried member of the New Brunswick Crafts Council has given her more opportunities to share what she has learned and experienced with others through teaching workshops, demonstrations, and selling her products.
