Traditional Pearl Jewellery Knotting

New Brunswick College of Craft and Design
457 Queen Street
Fredericton, NB

High-end, quality, vintage pearls are typically individually knotted onto silk to create a strong, flowing piece of jewellery and to protect the pearls. Your skilled instructor, Sarah Smith-Stewart, will impart her knowledge about  this timeless technique with freshwater pearls, genuine silk, tweezers and some patience! Create an instant heirloom in one afternoon! Choose from a selection of freshwater pearls, included in the materials fee. Tools and magnifiers (if needed) are provided for the class.

Instructor: Sarah Smith-Stewart
Sarah began selling beads, supplies and custom jewellery in 2002 at local markets in New Brunswick. She has taught jewellery-making to children and adults from age 4 to 94! In 2006, she opened her store, The Beadnik – Custom Jewellery & Beading Supplies in Fredericton and had the pleasure of opening a metalsmithing studio for the public. Though she closed the supply shop in 2014, she continues to teach metals in the studio and travel to schools, community groups and more to teach the joy of creating jewellery.
