The Beaverbrook Art Gallery offers FREE admission and programs to visitors of all ages on the last Sunday of each month from 12 pm to 5 pm!

Free activities:

Portraits in pastels: Find your props, poses and pastels, and create a self-portrait or a likeness of your friends, using pastels and colored pencils on cardboard - create a keepsake portrait to mark the end of a great 2019 summer!

Harm/Harmony Storytelling through collage: Simple and powerful collage techniques will be used to create artworks that tell stories and express emotions. This activity is part of a series of workshops to celebrate Voices of Harmony: the Art of the GSMS Global Minds Initiative. George Street Middle School created the first Canadian chapter of Global Minds, an organization that breaks down cultural and language barriers by bringing youth from diverse backgrounds together to combat isolation, exclusion, and racism. The students’ works and stories are displayed in the Gallery’s Sobey Youth Art Space from May to August and visitors are invited to explore their own stories through artmaking.

Mixed media painting activity with Nikita Louise Smith
Summer colors: Many Shades of Fun! Use vibrant color mixes to create bold and colorful abstract paintings inspired by Julie Caissie’s paintings. Your painting will sum up all the fun you had this summer! Participants will use acrylic, tempera and oil pastels on watercolor paper and cardboard.

3:00 pm Elizabeth A Currie Gallery on the Green
Performance by Frantically Atlantic Atlantic and Acadian music, traditional and original songs and lively stories in an animated and interactive performance by Michelle Daigle and Don Rigley.
