Capital 6/Trio De Janeiro

A night of funk and Brazilian Bossa Nova jazz.
In various combinations they have been playing together for decades, from church basements to major stages, from community radio to Radio 1.
They find themselves together again in Capital 6, an instrumental funk project bringing together their diverse musical visions, resolved by the freedom of collaborative writing and the friendship that keeps them playing together after all these years.
Trio de Janeiro is comprised of local import guitarist Camilo V. as he explores his father's legacy in Bossa Nova and popular Brazilian music.
Together with some of Fredericton's most notable players in Jon Bailey (drums) and Jason Flores (upright bass), Trio de Janeiro presents a music collage of the Brazillian cultural revolution of the 1960s onward.
From Billboard classics that went on to become standard Jazz repertoire, to songs of freedom that celebrate the joyful spirit of Brazil while speaking truth to power. Trio de Janeiro acts as an imaginary window to a music cafe by the ocean.
