The Assembly of First Nations presents their 2019 Annual General Assembly on the banks of the beautiful Wolastoq River.

These events will be open to the public so be sure to join in on the Social and Cultural activities held throughout the downtown and learn about indigenous culture through art, music, dance, cuisine and so much more!

Wabanaki Cultural Village & Market | July 20-25 | Southside Green, next to the Beaverbrook Art Gallery
Visit the Interactive Cultural Village and experience the traditions of the Wolastoqey, Mi’kmaq and Passamaquoddy People.
Featuring live demos by Indigenous artists, traditional long house & wigwams, storytelling, live performances, traditional food and art workshops.

Flag Raising | July 22 at 10:00-11:00 am
Join Chief Alan Polchies and Hon. Mayor Mike O'Brien in the Wolastoqey flag raising ceremony at City Hall.

Emerging Indigenous Musicians Showcase  | July 22 7:00-8:00 pm | Delta Hotels by Marriott Fredericton
Sit outside and enjoy live performances from emerging Indigenous musicians from across Wabanaki territory.

AFN Children and Adult Workshops | July 22-24 | Fredericton Public Library 
Free daily workshops for children and adults, including Storytelling, Basket Making, Eastern First Nations Iconography (Painting).

Aboriginal Art Workshops | July 22-24 at 1:00-3:00 pm | Mawi'Art Office 593 King Street
Join Indigenous artists for free, daily workshops in various traditional Indigenous arts including Eastern First Nations Iconography, quill work and beading. Registration required- email afnloc2019@gmail.com to reserve your spot!

Water Ceremony | July 23 7:00-8:00 am | Soutside Green by Beaverbrook Art Gallery
Come celebrate the traditional Wolastoqey ceremony with National Chief Perry Bellegarde, Regional Chief Roger Augustine and Chief Alan Polchies, as they canoe across the Wolastoq. Featuring live performance from Sisters of the Drum.

Wabanaki Artists Showcase | July 23 at 7:00-9:00 pm | Delta Hotel by Marriott Fredericton 
Celebrate the array of talented performers from across Wabanaki Territory in this exciting showcase hosted by MC Possesom. Bring a blanket, grab a seat and enjoy the show!
