Fredericton’s Seafood Lover’s Guide

Whether you’re a local, or a visitor to our shores, seafood is synonymous with the Maritimes! With so much to offer, we’ve put together a list of some of Fredericton’s favourite seafood dishes when looking for the catch of the day or just a really good lobster roll!
Claudine’s Eatery
138 Dundonald St. | (506) 454-0430 | Website
Most famed for its signature mimosa filled benny brunches, Claudine’s must not be overlooked for its selection of seafood dishes – whether morning or night! Not only do they play host to the BEST lobster roll in town but they have a killer seafood chowder on the menu. Evening meal selections can also be a tough one with a decadent seafood fettucine on the list, as well as a killer fish n chips which is the crispiest around (and gluten free to boot!).
William's Seafood
397 Smythe St. | (506) 454-2246 | Website
William's is a fave amongst locals! In true retro diner fashion, they serve up fried clams by the plateful and have a fully laden menu for all those fishy fried delicacies we regularly crave. While it may be nothing fancy in terms of dining in, this is one of the busiest spots in town where you’ll often find a line up.
Wolastoq Wharf
527 Union St. | (506) 449-0100 | Website
Perhaps our most premier destination for seafood lovers is Wolastoq Wharf, which is located on Fredericton’s northside. Set up as a fine dining experience, it often requires a reservation before you visit - be sure to bring your appetite though, as they’re known for very generous portion sizes. When it comes to their fish, it’s the freshest in town and their best selling menu items are both their seafood fettucine and seafood risotto. From an array of starters, mains and salads – seafood is the feature of menu – with something to offer everyone! Just don’t leave without ordering the dessert!
MOCO Downtown
100 Regent St. | (506) 455-6626 | Website
An Italian restaurant by night, MOCO is known more so as a pasta lovers delight – but they often offer up fresh fish dishes as daily or weekly specials. Here, you’ll find a menu filled with flavours of the Mediterranean, like their linguine pescadore or their salmon piccata! Our fave starter item, which is a regular menu feature, is their deep fried calamari! Its gluten free, tossed in a chickpea flour which makes this delicacy extra light and crispy – and such a treat!
Gahan Riverside
426 Queen St. | (506) 454-1929 | Website
Next on our list is a famed Maritime taphouse, with locations dotted throughout the Atlantic provinces. The Gahan House Riverside can be found on our idyllic Queen St in the heart of downtown Fredericton. With a selection of their own craft brews and a hidden backyard patio – it’s the perfect destination for these warmer evenings. With appys like Fish cakes, PEI mussels, haddock tacos and tuna tartare there’s plenty of seafood goodies to satisfy your appetite!
Issacs Way
649 Queen St. | (506) 474-7222 | Website
Another Frederictonian fave to make our list is Issac’s Way. This restaurant is located at the end of Queen St in a historic building with tonnes of character! They have a full section of their menu dedicated to classic seafood items like Chowders, battered Haddock, and their delicious Salmon Cakes with a lemon dill sauce. Be sure to check out their longstanding Art auction items when in house, not only does is showcase our local talent but a portion of proceeds from sales are donated back to various community initiatives!
Dimitris Souvlaki
349 King St. | (506) 452-8882 | Website
Next on our hitlist is our famed Greek food restaurant, Dimitris Souvlaki! With a variety of Mediterranean dishes to tantalise any tastebuds, they of course also have an array of seafood dishes to offer. Their menu has appys like sandori prawns and kalamari, to Seafood Platters and Surf n Turf mains that feature things like jumbo shrimp, and juicy scallops. If you decide to eat here, you gotta try their signature tzatziki dip which is sensational and a fave amongst locals.
In the mood to cook your own?
Peter’s Meat Market
