It’s a Crafters Christmas! A Holiday Shopping Guide

Once the leaves begin to fall, you know the craft and gift fairs will be coming up in Fredericton and the Capital Region! Here's a convenient list of upcoming Craft Shows to get your holiday shopping started right - with locally made items from regional artisans.

Fredericton Christmas Show  | November 12-14 (Part 1) & December 3-5 (Part 2) | Capital Exhibit Centre

This Fredericton show has been a staple for many years and is typically the first that kicks off the holiday shopping season with a wide array of crafters from all over the Capital Region! Find something for everyone with handcrafted jewellery, ceramics, baked treats and so much more! This craft show comes to you twice so you can cover everyone on your list. Watch for Santa who will be visiting at specific times during the show! Free admission.

Show times: Friday 2-8pm, Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday 11am-4pm

Christmas on the Farm | November 13, 10am-4pm | Sandwith’s Sleigh Rides, 2031, Route 620

Take a little drive out towards Royal Road and you will come upon a little camp in the woods known as “The Hitching Post”.  This is also the place to bring the whole family on a wintery sleigh ride, when the snow flies.  This special event will include a fun filled day of shopping, wagon rides and some of everyone's favorite Christmas music and treats. Come enjoy the farm while you support several of our LOCAL crafters/bakers and get into the Christmas spirit.

Durham Bridge Christmas Craft Market | November 13, 12-5pm | 679 Durham Bridge Road

Take the scenic drive to Durham Bridge (only 20 minutes from downtown Fredericton) for their Christmas Craft Market. Hosted by local crafters Farmhouse Friendly and Rustic Valley signs, you’ll find unique Christmas décor, delectable treats and many other hand-made treasures.

Capital Art Sale | November 17 – 20 | 50 Crowther Lane

A piece of artwork always makes for a thoughtful and beautiful gift, either for yourself or someone else! This popular annual art sale offers high quality art at amazing value with all pieces under $500 (with over half of the inventory at $100 or less!). Local artists and craftsmen will feature paintings, photography, mixed media, illustrations, pottery, jewellery, prints and more! Do you have an art lover on your list?  This is one sale you need to attend!

Christmas at the Market | November 18 (12-8pm) & November 19 (10am-8pm) | Fredericton Boyce Farmers Market, 664 George Street

A Christmas tradition! Taking place at the ever-popular Boyce Farmers Market, you’ll find a treasure trove of handmade items, treats and treasures to satisfy everyone on your list.  The festive atmosphere definitely gets you into the Holiday spirit of supporting local crafters!

Grace Memorial Church Craft Sale | November 20, 7:30am – 1:30 pm | 536 Northumberland Street

This annual show has a good variety of gift items, and it starts at 7:30am! Perfect for the shopping before work crowd!

NBCCD Craft Sale | November 26-28 | George Fry Gallery | 408 Queen Street

The NBCCD (New Brunswick College of Craft & Design) Craft Sale is a local favourite for holiday gift shopping! Support the Fine Craft students by purchasing stunning handmade creations in pottery, textile, jewelry and more. With their ample creativity, these second-year students have crafted innovative products to offer you truly unique gifts for friends and family.

November 26: 12-8pm | November 27: 10am-6pm | November 28:  12-5pm

Christmas on the Farm in Burton | November 26, 6-9pm & November 27, 10am-5pm| Burton Farmers & Artisan Market, 430 Route 102, Burton

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Burton! On November 26 there will be a tree lighting ceremony with music, hot chocolate and maybe even Santa himself! Then get shopping with a Christmas lit market with amazing artisan vendors and grab a tasty treat along the way. Didn't get enough? This market will also be open on Saturday. A two-day event to start off your Christmas hustle and bustle right! 

Etsy NB Holiday Maker Market | November 27, 10am – 5pm | Currie Centre, 15 Peter Kelly Drive

What is Etsy, you may be asking? Simply put, it is a collection of highly curated vendors from different categories of craft, so shoppers have a diverse and unique shopping experience. Vendors are fresh, trendy, and produce beautiful products. This show will feature fine art, illustrations, knits, candles, jewellery, home goods, ornaments, pottery, soap, even a photo booth and much more. Expect over 60 local makers at this maker market.

Hippy Holidaze Market | November 27, 10am-4pm | Charlotte Street Arts Centre

Give the gift of local and secondhand treasures this holiday season! Over 20 vendors selling art, pottery, vintage goods, clothing, beauty products and more!

Masks and proof of vaccination required.

Indigenous Night Market | December 1, 6-9pm | Jenna's Nut Free Dessertery, 170 Urquhart Crescent

Come out to the first annual Indigenous Night Market! The perfect place to snag some incredible unique handmade gifts for everyone on your list!

And the perfect time to check out the amazing talent in this beautiful province.

BOP Christmas Arts & Crafts Market | December 4, 9am – 1pm | 800 St. Mary’s Street

Branch Out Productions (BOP) presents it annual Christmas market where you’ll find the perfect Christmas present from over a dozen local artists and crafters; there will also be raffles, snacks and other treats!

St. Mary’s First Nation Craft Fair | December 11, 9am-5pm | Maqiyahtimok Center, 4 Wolastoq Way

Get your Christmas shopping off to a great start with homemade crafts, indigenous crafts, giftware, baked goods and more! Entry is free with a non-perishable food item. While you are there, check out this beautiful new facility within the St. Mary’s First Nation!

Holiday shopping has just gotten so much easier! Not only will you be purchasing something handmade, but you are also supporting local, what a win-win!
