Experience a Victorian Christmas at Kings Landing

For  two weekends in December, Kings Landing comes alive for Christmas in the Valley. Visit select homes and shops, chat with villagers, join in singing carols, hop on a wagon ride, and get into the Christmas spirit!

Decorating your home for the holidays is a sure way to get into the Christmas spirit and a beloved tradition for many households. The practice of placing evergreen boughs and trees inside the home dates back centuries. The popularity of other Christmas decorations like cards, handmade ornaments, candles, and Christmas crackers are often credited to Queen Victoria in the mid-1800s. Visit select homes at Kings Landing to take in the festive decorations and be inspired by the Victorian Christmas décor!

The villagers in the Hagerman, Joslin, Jones, Lint, Perley, Morehouse, Ingraham, and Heustis homes will be so pleased to welcome you inside to enjoy a warm fire and see what they are cooking and baking. Visions of sugar plums may dance right before your eyes, and you may just get to make your own Christmas ornament.

The Blacksmith and Print Shops and both churches will be open to visitors. Remember to stop by the Grant Store and the Peddler’s Market to pick up unique Christmas gifts from Kings Landing. Grab a quick snack at the King’s Head Inn to enjoy in the garden (if weather permits) or in the Lint Barn warming station.

The Christmas at the King’s Head Inn dinners are a tradition you’ll want to start this year. Since 1983, innkeepers at the King’s Head Inn have guided guests by candlelight into the magical warmth of the Inn adorned with evergreen boughs, garlands, pomander balls, ribbons and strings of popcorn and cranberries. Guests enjoy a three-course meal along with live music and after-dinner treats like port and gingerbread cookies. Tickets can be purchased online via Eventbrite while they last!

Visitors will also enjoy scenic strolls around the village to see all the equally impressive outdoor decorations. The horse and wagon will travel back and forth for visitors to hop on and off. You will notice the horses look extra fluffy as their winter coats are growing. It’s difficult to predict what the weather will be for early December so be sure to check the weather before coming and dress appropriately!
