Get Your Fright On! Halloween in Fredericton

For the young and young at heart, what other time of year do you get to don your favourite costume and collect treats! This also happens to be a great time of year to plan an impromptu fall getaway, say, one of our great “Dinners on Us" Stay and Play Packages perhaps? (more on that later!)
The great thing about Halloween is that it is for EVERYONE! Fredericton has so many choices for all ghosts and goblins. We have a few things to get your fright on, both for young and old!

Nothing says Halloween better than a good old-fashioned scare! The folks at the Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of NB (APEGNB) have traditionally put on a fantastic event at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre, but this year, they’ve moved to Carleton Street, for the 1st Annual Freddy Fright Fest! From October 22 – 31, the Carleton Street area will be transformed into a spooky downtown haunt! Be sure to book a tour time online!
Frankenstein! October 28, 7:30pm | Fredericton Playhouse, 686 Queen Street
A special film screening with live original score! Have you ever wondered what it was like to see a movie with live orchestration? Well now you can experience it for yourself! This spooky season, enjoy a screening of the famous 1931 classic film Frankenstein, presented with a brand-new score performed with a live orchestra.
NB composer Andrew Reed Miller has created this original music to be performed by core members of Symphony NB. This show will be featured at the Fredericton Playhouse on October 28 at 7:30pm.
Science East Low Scare for Kids, October 30-31 | 668 Brunswick Street
Also part of the APEGNB Halloween series, your little ghosts and goblins will love this annual Haunted Tour's with spooky delights and fascinating sights! Each year Science East's low-scare tour uses the wonders of science to reimagine Halloween themes in creative, fun ways-all with the backdrop of mystery and illusion of the old York County Jail. This tour is recommended for the 3 to 12 year old goblins!

Run Through the Woods at Night – On Purpose! October 29, 7pm | Woolastook Park, 5171 NB-102
It’s called the “Wool-a’Stalk Run for your Life” and it is 6.66 km (hehe…get it?). You’ll be running through the woods, in costume, in an ardent effort to escape the ghouls hiding in the woods. Wear a costume and bring a food donation for the SPCA and your entry to this terrifying race is free!
Sample Some Frightfully Good Brews!
Everyone knows that Fredericton holds its own for craft beverages, but did you know that you can sample some seasonal beverages like for example, the “Spooky” by TrailWay Brewing! But don’t stop there, you can find more varieties and do it up right with the Fredericton Taproom Trail map, where you can collect stamps and be well on your way earning cool swag and prizes!
Go on a Haunted Hike! | Beaverbrook Art Gallery Green, 703 Queen Street
Yikes! Haunted Hikes!! The Calithumpians’ signature ghost walk is the stuff of legend! Costumed guides take you on a lantern-lit tour through downtown Fredericton’s spooky, eerie areas, as you learn of local myths and legends, and encounter phantom thespians along the way! The hike is suitable for the whole family and promises spine-tingling frights and funnybone-tickling laughs.

Black Magic Bazaar Craft Fair, October 30, 8am-4pm | Knights of Columbus Hall, 170 Regent Street
Just in time for the spooky season! At the Black Magic Bazaar, look for last minute costumes and vintage clothing, treats, handmade goodies, some really incredible art, as well as a live DJ from 1-4pm.
This should keep many a green-eyed monster busy this Halloween in Fredericton! So, go ahead, dig out the costume and take part in the events and activities taking place in the region.
