Discovering the Capital City - My 3 Day Adventure

This summer was quite different than any other summer. As we are in a pandemic causing lots of travel restrictions, we are fortunate to be able to explore in our Atlantic bubble! My plan this summer was to explore and discover new places close to home. What better time to do it than now! And even more so in our capital, Fredericton.
Follow my 3-day adventure in this beautiful city.
On our first day, we decided to kick off the trip with a round of golf at Kingswood Golf Course. Not only can you golf 18 holes, but they also have a small par 3 which is perfect for beginners. We did the front 9 which was absolutely beautiful! Great views; and the course is very well maintained. Post the round, we then grabbed a bite at Sam Sneads. The restaurant is located in the clubhouse where they’ve got quite the selection of colorful cocktails.
Off to the hotel, we went! We decided to stay at the Delta Fredericton, where we quickly realized we would be spending lots of time in that amazing outdoor pool. They had a DJ, the bar was open for ice cream and cocktails, and there was no better way to cool off after a round of golf on a sunny day!
The Delta offers bike rentals so we decided to “hop” on the Fredericton Taproom Trail. The taproom trail is really well known in Fredericton, there is 11 taprooms on the map to explore along the 120 km trail system. We headed to 3 them to get a taste of it ourselves! The first stop was Picaroons, a great outdoor area with lots of craft beer and food, we then headed to Red Rover Craft Cider, if you're a fan of cider, like me, it’s a must, and we ended our tour at Graystone Brewing.
For supper, we decided to eat at 540 Kitchen & Bar, a small restaurant downtown. This place is really unique and had great food. There was a small terrace out front which was really cozy!
The next morning we decided to go on a little hike. We found this hike just 20 minutes outside the city called Joslin Falls. Unfortunately, with the lack of rain this summer there was not much of a fall but the area was surrounded with big rocks with was still really impressive to see!
In the afternoon we decided to hop on the bikes and explore downtown, there are lots of local boutiques and coffee shops.
Before supper, we grabbed a drink at the hotel bar, which was newly renovated and was absolutely gorgeous as is their restaurant, STMR.36. The food and service were excellent. Just after our meal, we took a walk on the hotel dock to watch the sunset! No better way to end the day.
The next morning, tubing was on our agenda. We drove just outside the city, approximately 15 minutes north of Fredericton along the Nashwaak River in Durham Bridge. The lazy river offers great views and was really relaxing. It took about 2.5 hours from start to finish. On a hot summer day, there is nothing more refreshing than floating down the river in a tube!
Later that day we made our way to Second Nature Outdoors, where you could rent kayaks, paddleboards, canoes, and much more. We paddled across the river into a small pathway surrounded by trees; it was beautiful.
I can say that this trip was one of my summer highlights. The City has so many great outdoor activities, great restaurants, breweries, shops, and much more! You truly get to experience a lot of different things during your stay.
