5 Can’t Miss Camping Destinations

What says summer more than camping?! The season is not complete without at least one trip out to sleep under the stars, to cook your meals outdoors and to enjoy the s’mores around the bonfire. All 4 of the Fredericton camping destinations listed here take full advantage of the fantastic Saint John River so you can’t go wrong when it comes to scenery.
1. Hartt Island RV Resort Water Park (within Fredericton’s city limits)
On the banks of the Saint John River has lots to offer including a heated leisure pool, water slides for all ages, mini golf and river adventures including canoeing, kayak and paddle board rentals offered by Second Nature Outdoors.
2. Mactaquac Provincial Park (25KM from Fredericton)
Offering all the perks of a provincial park including an 18-hole championship golf course, hiking trails, a great beach, restaurant, store, 300+ campsites, rustic shelters and more! Added bonus: less than a 10 minute drive away, you will find the infamous Skinny's Scoop, featuring a petting zoo (well, just looking for now), serving up comfort foods and 25+ kinds of ice cream and get this, they are open 10am-10pm DAILY.
3. Great Bear Camping (44KM from Fredericton)
Located in the community of Bear Island, this campground sits on the banks of the Saint John River. It features 80 sites, a swimming pool, private beach and hiking trails. This campground is also very close to some fun attractions to check out including the Hawkshaw cable-stayed suspension bridge, the World’s Largest Axe in Nackawic and short hike to Howland Falls.
4. Heritage Country Camping (38KM from Fredericton)
Sitting in Mactaquac Country with 108 spacious sites, this campground offers a swimming pool, horseshoes and hiking trails. It is only minutes away from Mactaquac Provincial Park, TreeGo and Kings Landing!
5. River Run Resort (24KM from Fredericton)
Located directly on Kelly Creek, River Run Resort offers 3-way full-service RV sites, tent platforms, and tenting ground overlooking the beautiful creek! This campground offers a salt swimming pool, lake access (don’t forget the kayaks!) and soon to be a restaurant and bar! It is conveniently located near Kings Landing, Treego Mactaquac, Everett Family Orchard and Quilli’s Family Fun Waterpark!
