Top 10 Family Friendly Restaurants in Fredericton

It’s no secret that we love great food, but it can be a little trickier to find those more accommodating spots with the kids in tow. We asked local food expert Nadia Barry, also known as @Freddy.Foodie to give us the low down on her favorite family friendly restaurants in Fredericton for you to enjoy worry free.
Sweet Belgian Desire
Who doesn’t love waffles? The folks at Sweet Belgian Desire specialize in all things kids love to eat; from their signature waffles filled with strawberries and whipped cream, to their fruit stuffed crepes drizzled in a delicious butterscotch syrup. They have a wide selection of savory options to choose from as well, but we’re personally in love with their specialty coffees which are to die for! Go on and treat yourself to one, you deserve it!
The Palate
An unassuming gem known well to locals, The Palate is a cozy but spacious spot located on our idyllic Queen Street. If you’re looking for a fine dining experience that’s a bit more relaxed and carefree, this is it. Their menu is locally sourced and seasonal, so it changes throughout the year but the food remains consistent and they have some great wines and local craft beers on tap too! Try their killer steak (in our opinion the best in town!) or one of their signature stirfry’s!
Williams Seafood
Conveniently located on the Fredericton Exhibition grounds Williams Seafood has been serving its locals for over 50 years! With ample parking and an extensive menu, including one for kids, this place is a no brainer if you’re craving some fresh seafood. Try one of their homemade cookies or their ice cream floats for fun!
The Coffee Mill
Oh how we love the Coffee Mill for its wide array of fantastic food! They have everything from healthy eats and treats like fresh juices and smoothies, to freshly baked cookies and donuts, and even their own in house roasted coffee by their sister company Milltown Roasters. So whether you’re looking for breakfast, brunch, or lunch - they’ve got you’ve covered even with the pickiest eaters in tow.
Monks and Jones Brick and Mortar
Cue the newest kids on the block for our next choice of family friendly spots. You may have heard of these guys via their popular beginnings as food truck which would frequent our local breweries. Now, they have their very own establishment located on Bishop Dr. complete with quirky, cool Canadian décor; they even have a full size canoe suspended from their ceiling as a focal point! Their food is some of the best in town with fresh takes on some epic classics such as the fried chicken and waffles which are drizzled in a maple chipotle butter. Drool.
The Sunshine Diner
Yet another long time fave of Freddy locals is the fabulously retro Sunshine diner. Serving Fredericton for over 20 years, the diner is located just across the street from the Delta Hotel off of Woodstock Rd. Here, you’ll find friendly staff and homemade cooking at its finest, from hot turkey dinners to your classic Eggs benny breakfasts; they have something for the whole family to enjoy.
Wolastoq Wharf
Just across the bridge on Fredericton’s Main Street is a fine dining experience you and the whole family won’t want to miss. It’s our premier seafood spot, with generous portions and incredible desserts. Each table receives a dish of warm bannock bread and sweet molasses which is a nod to the indigenous culture of the area – this could serve as the perfect segway to teach your children more about the history of the indigenous people of Canada and their long held traditions.
Unplugged Café
Nestled in the heart of downtown Fredericton’s Queen St. you’ll find Unplugged which boasts a collection of over 600 board games. Specializing in gourmet grilled cheeses and games of all shapes and sizes, this is the ultimate interactive place to bring the kids! Treat them to a slushie or a float as well as their choice of game. Unlimited play for only $5, kids under 10 play for $3.
Claudine’s Eatery
One of our absolute faves in town for a quick rendezvous with friends is Claudine’s Eatery. Recently revamped and relocated to Fredericton’s southside, the diner’s new look is fresh, fun and fab! An absolute must for Eggs Benny lovers, they boast a variety of takes on the breakfast classic. The kids can even enjoy one of their colorful alcohol free mimosas while Mama has a real one!
Mama’s Brewpub
Last but not least is Mama’s pub located on Fredericton’s Northside on Brookside Dr. This neighborhood pub is a fave among local families as they specialize in comfort food and are a hit with burger lovers. Their large open space also doubles as a microbrewery so both parents and kids have something they can enjoy here!
