Start your getaway off with a visit to Kingswood Golf. Recognized by Golf Digest as The Best New Course in Canada in 2003, Kingswood offers a 7,000 yard 18-hole Signature course and 9-hole Executive course.  The course was designed by Cooke-Huxham and developed to take advantage of the natural assets of the geography of the area. Masterfully bunkered, with wide-open fairways, Kingswood’s links-style course focuses on the natural surroundings and presents a challenge for the expert player. Its Signature 14th hole offers a dramatic 30-foot waterfall, and with rock croppings, pot bunkers and marshland throughout the course, every golfer will leave inspired by the scenery and challenged by the golf experience. Kingswood also offers driving and putting ranges, a full pro shop and instruction.

Up next, you can head over to the north side of the city where, nestled in a new residential development, you will find Fredericton’s newest signature course, West Hills Golf. This Huxham Golf designed 18-hole championship golf course and club house is a par 72 championship caliber golf course that is a shot-maker’s dream. The course offers 5 sets of tee decks, which allows the yardage to vary from a comfortable 5,070 yards to a challenging 6,765 yards. With a diverse parkland design, integrated natural elements such as rock quarry ponds, meandering brooks, and elevated rock ridgelines, accompanied by man-made ponds in strategic areas throughout the course, golfers will find themselves challenged by the shot elements. The natural beauty of the area’s diverse vegetation, the elaborate bunkers and panoramic vistas from elevated tee decks add to the golf experience. West Hills also offer a practice facility with real target greens, practice chipping and putting greens.

Finally, no trip is complete without a trip to Mactaquac Provincial Park to take on one of the most challenging courses in the area. The Abe Mitchell-designed Mactaquac Golf Course offers over 7,000 yards of championship golf action, nestled into the wilderness of one of New Brunswick’s top Provincial Parks. With rolling terrain, lots of tree cover alongside the fairways, and surprisingly difficult approaches to the greens, Mactaquac will surprise and delight even the most experienced golfer. The combination of long Par 5 holes (up to 525 yards) and shorter Par 3 holes both builds the golfers’ confidence and humbles at the same time. Its Signature 14th hole is known for a nerve-testing tee shot over a pond and the unforgiving approach to the green. If you finish this hole on par, you are having a great day on the course. Given the natural wooded setting, wild animals such as deer, raccoons and porcupines are always a possible natural hazard as well!

These are just three of the reasons to visit Fredericton for your weekend golf getaway. You can find a number of other courses in the greater Fredericton area including the Fredericton Golf Club, Carman Creek Golf Course, Gilridge Golf Club, Riverbend Golf Club, and Gage Golf Club that all offer different golfing experiences.
