Fredericton Tourism Partners with Travel Influencer to Showcase Capital City as Travel Destination

For immediate release: June 11, 2020

FREDERICTON (NB): Fredericton Tourism is partnering with adventure travel influencer Mike Corey to produce a 5-part video series on what to see, do and eat in Fredericton this summer.

Corey, a local Frederictonian, has been working as a vlogger under his brand Fearless & Far for the last 10 years, showcasing some of the most unique and extreme travel experiences in exotic destinations around the world. In 2017, he became the North American correspondent on BBC's The Travel Show which airs weekly on BBC World News, BBC News, and BBC Two. The program aims to provide unique insight into the world of travel. Through this partnership with Fredericton Tourism, Corey will highlight what he loves to come home to in Fredericton.

“This summer will be unlike any other on record.  While Fredericton typically prepares to welcome visitors from across Canada, the United States and the world, this year, the focus will be on New Brunswicker’s exploring the wonders in their own backyard” says Corey. “I’ve had the privilege to travel to some incredible places in the world, but there really is no place like Fredericton. This city is special.  This new partnership will allow me to look through the lens of a local and share some of my favourite experiences in my hometown.”

When Fredericton Tourism heard that Corey would be home for most of the summer, they reached out to him to see if he would be interested in the project.  Corey has a long-standing working relationship with the City including producing videos for FROSTival, festivals, outdoor adventure and destination videos that have been showcased on their website, social channels and in marketing campaigns.

“We are so excited to be working with Mike on this initiative.  He’ll be able to give an authentic locals perspective on some of the most interesting things to see and do in Fredericton.  He also brings an emotion of appreciation for just how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful city”, says Fredericton Tourism’s Consumer & Leisure Coordinator Holly Kirkpatrick.

Fredericton Tourism has seen a steady increase in engagement across their social media channels over the last few months.  The 5-part series will be released throughout the summer and each video will be accompanied by a blog post written by Corey.  The series will be part of the overall summer marketing campaign by Fredericton Tourism with the tagline: “It’s Time to Explore Again”. You’ll be able to follow Corey’s adventures on social media along with his extensive social following, including 111,000 followers on Instagram and 329,000 YouTube followers.

“This is a great opportunity to not only reach New Brunswicker’s but future travellers from across the world”, says Kirkpatrick.  “With Mike’s extensive social network, being able to showcase some of the things he loves about his hometown will open up Fredericton as travel destination to those who may not have considered it before.”

The first video in the series will be released today and focuses on Fredericton’s extensive trail system. You can find a link to the video and blog post here.
