7 Things to do during the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival in Fredericton

Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival is the best international festival experience on the East Coast! While this year’s amazing lineup will definitely keep your evenings jam-packed, make the most of your stay in Fredericton and fill your days up with even more fun! Here are some of our favourite local activities you’ll have to include in your itinerary:

1. Pave the way: discover the trails!

A stroll or pedal along Fredericton’s trails is a great way to wind down amidst your busy festival schedule! We’ve got 100+ km of trails bordering our majestic riverfront and traversing our vibrant cityscape. You can even rent a bike from Second Nature Outdoors, Savage’s or the Radical Edge, so lace up and get your adventure started!

2. See the arts

Surely you’ve seen (or heard) how dynamic Fredericton’s music scene is, but we’ve still got a lot more to offer when it comes to the arts. The Beaverbrook Art Gallery celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, this is the place to admire world-class creations and discover the art that surrounds us! From September 9 through 16, visitors can get Gallery admission for only $5  – all you have to do is show your Harvest pass or ticket stub!

3. Get a taste of the town

Many of our most popular patios are just steps from the Harvest hustle and bustle, so your dining experience may be topped with some amazing live music! Whether you’re looking for a cozy nook to recharge with some hearty grub, want to dive into shareable plates, or indulge in some haute-cuisine, you’re sure to find something that makes your taste buds happy here!

4. Bottoms up for craft beer!

If you’re already a craft alcohol connoisseur – you’re in luck! If not, you’ve chosen the right place to start! Fredericton has the highest concentration of breweries, meaderies and cideries in Atlantic Canada. Hop around and discover what’s-a-brewin’ around the town, check out one of the many places to sip on a cold one!

5. Make it to the market

It just isn’t Saturday in Fredericton without a trip to at least one local market! Lucky for you, we’ve got 3 great weekend markets to enjoy. So pack a reusable bag, bring your appetite, and we’ll meet you where the fresh food is!

6. Speaking of harvest… visit Kings Landing!

Step back in time with a visit to this 19th century New Brunswick themed living history museum! Learn the tales of the time through costumed characters, historic homes, galleries, and traditional recipes. There’s always something going on in the Village – in fact, this weekend (September 14th & 15th) is the Bonnet Hop so come on out to enjoy the dancing, singing, and other festivities!

7. Bite in to some fun

Round up the family and head out to one of our many local apple U-Picks! Not only is this a family-friendly activity, it’s a chance to soak in some gorgeous views of the surrounding landscape and try out a new recipe with all the apples you’ve gathered!
