Fredericton Strong Concert

Fredericton has been through a lot this year! The historic spring flooding and the August shooting incident left everyone shocked & shaken. The organizers of the Fredericton Strong Benefit Concert invite everyone to join in a celebration of our strengths! This incredible concert will take place Saturday, October 6th at the Aitken Centre with doors opening at 5PM featuring 12 of the biggest names in Canadian (and east coast!) music.

There will be acknowledgement of the events which have brought us to this juncture, but the overall focus is the celebration of this city’s strengths. The intention is to gather together our neighbours and friends to salute our city’s first responders and to experience a night we won’t soon forget. Music heals! It’s a powerful conduit through which we can all connect, and this phenomenal event will surely leave a mark on all in attendance. They are expecting close to 4,000 people to be in attendance!

Proceeds will be donated to three key support services who helped those impacted immediately following the tragic events of August 10th and will continue to service our community as we work towards recovery. The Canadian Red Cross in New Brunswick, The Chalmers Foundation and The Canadian Mental Health Association of New Brunswick.

I’m told there was an amazing out pouring from musicians near and far wanting to lend their support to this event and the organizers had to make tough choices given restrictions of budget and sheer time available. These 12 All-Star Canadian Acts will be performing: David Myles (also will act as host), Matt Mays, Matt Andersen & The Mellotones, Classified, Neon Dreams, Tristan Horncastle, The Trews, Madeline Merlo, Whitehorse, Tebey, & Ria Mae.

This lineup reflects a great diversity of many genres of music from rock to country to hip hop and everything in between. I predict we can expect to see some collaborations between artists on stage as many of those performing are friends and have worked together previously.

Tickets are available on the Aitken Centre website and at the Aitken Centre box office, open 11am to 4pm Monday to Friday.
