Next2Now Summer Concert Series to feature three dynamic Maritime Bands!

For immediate release: July 3, 2018

FREDERICTON (NB):  The City of Fredericton has just added another reason to come downtown this summer with the Next2Now! free summer concert series.

Managed by Fredericton Tourism, the Next2Now! concert series features hot new regional bands on select Saturdays in Officers’ Square within the Historic Garrison District.

A perfect complement to a day of activities in the downtown including the a visit to the markets, browsing shops and restaurants, as well as a stop at a tasting room or patio, visitors and residents can check out top up and coming music acts in a national historic site in the heart of Fredericton’s vibrant downtown.

Next2Now! will feature three new shows in Officers’ Square on Saturday evenings at 7:30pm.   Artists include;

July 7 – Hillsburn

Hailing from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Hillsburn is a five-piece, indie-rock band known for their high energy vocals. They’ll be performing from their album “The Wilder Beyond” which departs sharply from the folk-rooted sound of Hillsburn’s award-winning In The Battle Years debut. The group’s soaring three-part harmonies are intact here, but densely-layered arrangements and more electronic instruments signal a move in the direction of indie rock.

July 21 – Port Cities

Returning after 2 sold out shows in Fredericton, Nova Scotia music award winners Port Cities features a wildly self-assured collection of sparkling, rootsy pop that showcases the trio’s devotion to songwriting. The band has amassed over 1.5 million streams internationally and has been showcased at The Great Escape, Focus Wales, and the Reeperbahn Festival.

August 4 – Slowcoaster

With infectious and captivating lyrics, reinforced by a commanding groove, Slowcoaster takes you on a ride to the heart of the party with no apologies. Throwing down their high-energy danceable tunes, the Cape Breton trio fuses ska, reggae, hip hop, and classic house influences with their unique brand of funky rock and roll. Having spent the past ten years infiltrating the Canadian live music scene, Slowcoaster has firmly established themselves as one of the country’s most popular jam rock bands.

In addition to the free Next2Now! concerts, there are also a number of festivals & events taking place within the Historic Garrison District over the weekends, including craft beer events, Cricket anniversary celebration and more.

The Next2Now! music series expands Fredericton Tourism’s extensive music program which also includes Tuesday and Thursday evening concerts in  Officers’ Square, June 11 to September 5.  For a complete concert and entertainment schedule visit Fredericton Tourism and follow us on Twitter @FredTourism for real time updates on rain dates, cancellations and more!
