This week in Fredericton: July 10 - 16

This week we are all about music: from soothing classical to rock, we cover all genres and want you to experience it! Want to do a little yoga with a rewarding beer afterward? Or how about a quick 5 or 10k jaunt? Whatever you fancy, chances are you’ll find something entertaining this week!

The  Mounties are Coming, The Mounties are Coming!
You will be proud to be a Canadian!  If you’ve never experienced this stunning show of drills and intricate movements, you are in for a treat!  In honour of Canada’s 150th birthday, the RCMP Musical Ride is making a stop in Fredericton for 2 days, July 11 & 12. And since this is the ONLY New Brunswick stop should be reason enough to catch this special  performance!

The Sounds of Fredericton!
Officers’ Square is a busy downtown spot bustling in the summer, and during certain evenings during the week you will be sure to hear music!  This week local Indie band Luke & the Drifters  (July 11) and pop/rock band David in the Dark (July 13) will rock the square and you’re invited to these FREE concerts!

Cross the river and more (free!) music awaits with the Northside Concert Series.  The Nashwaaksis Amphitheatre on Main Street will feature Celtic fiddler Katherine Moller – a true foot stomping, hand clapping experience!

As part of our Summer Recital Series, St. Anne’s Chapel of Ease will present local favourites Steven Peacock and Gerry Van Wart on classical guitars (July 12) and a short walk away is historic Christ Church Cathedral  for “Barrachois Summer Music – Canadian Art Songs” (July 14) both are free concerts, with a free will offering.

Juno award-winning blues guitarist and son of Dutch Mason, Garrett Mason will be playing a special solo show at Corked Wine Bar on July 13, this is one show you don’t want to miss!

Yoga and Beer? Of course!
It’s “Hopped Yoga”!  If you are a yoga fan and like craft beer, this fun afternoon is just what the doctor ordered!  Participate in a 45-minute mindful yoga practice followed by a 4-flight beer tasting at the newly renovated space at Picaroons on Union Street.

A Run with a View!
Falls Brook Centre, with a satellite office in the Ville Cooperative,  hosts an annual  “Salmon Run” on July 16.  It’s a fun 5 or 10km distance that takes you along the beautiful trails that wind beside the Nashwaak River.  Grab your sneakers and sunscreen and head out to participate in this great event!

Watch a movie “Under the Stars”!
Date night anyone? What a great way to spend a Saturday or Sunday evening!  Our “Under the Stars” movie series presents “Beetlejuice” on July 15 and the animated version of “Snow White” on July 16.  Bring a chair and a blanket and head to Officers’ Square at dusk.

Let the movies begin! #soundofmusic
