Frostival Ice Sculpture

How does a solid block of ice transform into an amazing 3D work of art? Clever use of chainsaws, scrapers and other tools for one! See for yourself as you stroll the streets downtown and come upon numerous ice sculptures as part of our FROSTival ice sculpture showcase.
Moonlight Snowshoe Battleship Scavenger Hunt
Jan 20 & 21, 6:30pm | Mactaquac Provincial Park | FREE
This sounds pretty cool and the best part? You get to use a special light and play around in the dark! In this unique scavenger hunt, you are guided by the moonlight and a U.V. (blacklight) flashlight. Look for hidden clues along the trail to the battleship board. Return to the lodge, and see if you have enough clues to sink a ship. Sink a ship and win a prize! Want a challenge? Find the Golden Battleship and win a special prize!
Crabbe Mountain Weekend Events
Friday & Saturdays beginning on January 20 – February 11 (excluding February 3 for Speed Week)
Gather the gang and head to the slopies! Crabbe wants you to gather your family on Fridays for Family Night. What that means is that parents purchase night lift tickets and kids (17 & under) accompanied by the parent receives lift tickets for free! Apres Ski happens on Saturdays where you can enjoy some great live music and food specials from 5-9pm. A great way to spend the evening!
Old Fashioned Skating Party with Josh Bravener & the Hypochondriacs
January 21, 1-2pm | Officers’ Square
What is more traditional than skating outside with music? We go one step further and provide live music! Warm up with hot drinks and baked treats provided by Fredericton Boyce Farmers Market Vendors while enjoying the sounds of Josh Bravener & The Hypochondriacs.
By the Fire Sing Alongs

Give your vocal chords a workout and belt out a few tunes…by the fire! Get dressed in your warm boots and jacket and meet us at our firepit in Officers’ Square! Sing Along with some of Fredericton’s local musicians by a crackling fire and warm up with some refreshments offered by donation from Fredericton North Rotary.
Maritime Cup: Skate Skiing & Classic Skiing
Jan 21, 1pm (Skating Skiing) & Jan 22, 11am (Classic Skiing) | Killarney Lake Park
Hmm…Skate Skiing…interesting! Come participate OR be a member of the cheering committee for these two exciting events! Both take place on beautiful Killarney Lake trails with distances from .5km to 15 km based on age.
Crabbe Mountain Everest Weekend

Here’s a little known fact: Climbing Crabbe Mountain approximately 13 times equals the vertical drop from the top of Everest to base camp; 34 downhill runs at Crabbe equals Everest's total elevation! The idea is to take the two day climbing challenge or the Sunday downhill challenge – either way, you get hot chocolate and a BBQ at the end and a workout too! ($20 to enter, lift pass is an additional $20).
Snoga with Jenny Rolls

Bring your yoga mat and get ready to do a full body stretch outside! This is always a very popular event, so come early to claim your piece of ground!
Mactaquac Park Winter Wellness Day
Jan 28, 12-6pm | Mactaquac Provincial Park | FREE
Come to the place where you can do a multitude of FUN things that start with “S”!! Skiing, Snowshoeing, skating, sliding, and it is all FREE! The sliding hill at Mactaquac is phenomenal so I would highly recommend that, but if you haven’t tried skiing or snowshoeing, go ahead and strap them on! The park even provides these items for FREE. Afterwards, warm up in MOCO Mactaquac with a nice meal and something hot to drink!

Winter Wacky Science Day

How about a little bubble freezing? Or maybe you’d like to make your own thermometer? This and more will be happening at Mactaquac! This free event is meant to teach kids that science is FUN, interesting and pretty darn cool when you add snow, ice and cold!
Winter Bird Safari for Kids
Feb 11, 12-4pm | Mactaquac Provincial Park | FREE
Did you know that some birds tend to stick around our province for the winter? I’m not kidding! This is a great way for kids to learn about what feathered creatures inhabit our forests. Armed with snowshoes and binoculars, kids will take a trek through the park and collect wooden bird cutouts, then head back to the lodge and make a real pine cone bird feeder to take home!
9 Toe Winter Adventure

Has orienteering or adventure racing made it to the bucket list? This is your chance to try it for yourself! This is not your typical ice skating show, folks! Le Patin Libre is a Montreal-based company that describes their performances as “contemporary dance on ice.” This group of high level figure skaters transforms traditional figure skating into a means of free
expression, with components of urban street dance. The group’s performance touch on leadership, bullying, individualism and rivalry.
