The Shriners Parade is coming!

The Shriners Parade is coming to Fredericton!

Did you hear? The Shriners are coming! Fredericton will host over 650 Shriners between September 22-25. Shriners from as far away as Rhode Island and east to Newfoundland will be in Fredericton for their Northeast Shrine Association 2016 Field Days.

What is a Shriner?

Wondering what a Shriner is? The LUXOR SHRINERS is the New Brunswick body of the parent organization, SHRINERS International. SHRINERS have been active in this province since 1903. Today there are 674 SHRINERS in New Brunswick. This group owns and operates 22 hospitals in Canada, USA and Mexico.

Shriners Parade

Shriners are famous for their parades!

One of the highlights of this year’s Shriners event is the parade. If you’ve never attended a Shriners parade, you have to go to this one!  Imagine adults squeezed into mini cars, having a grand old time! The parade starts at 2pm on September 24 and will begin at the Exhibit Centre, along Smythe to St Anne’s Point Blvd, turning right on Queen and back to the Exhibit Centre.  This is a great event for the kids!

Shriners Parade

Mini cars, clowns & more!

The parade is not the only fun event that the Shriners will be presenting.  Earlier that day, meet at the Exhibit grounds at 8am to see a classic car, mini-car and bike competition! Did I mention that the Shriners have a large fleet of clowns that is sure to put a smile on any face! There will be a Clown Competition at 9am at Regent Mall; sounds intriquing, right?

And the best part? It’s all free! Be sure to mark September 24 on your calendar and be part of the fun  with the Northeast Shriners!
