Summer Events at Mactaquac Provincial Park

Looking for ways to connect with nature and have fun with family and friends? All summer long Mactaquac Provincial Park will be offering fun, family-friendly outdoor events! From Wet and Wacky Science Day, to a Buried Treasure Scavenger Hunt, there’s an event that everyone will enjoy this summer!

Wet and Wacky Science Day
Saturday, July 9 | 12-4pm | York Centennial | FREE
Come and cool down at Mactaquac Provincial Park on Saturday for Wet and Wacky Science Day at York Centennial from 12 - 4pm.  All science experiments are easy to do and safe for all ages. Activities include: Solar powered oven, elephant toothpaste, U.V. treasure hunt, giant bubbles, slip and slide, tie dye milk, water rockets, Alka Seltzer lava lamps, and wacky food science!

People Power Day
Saturday, July 16 | 10am-4pm | York Centennial | FREE
Come out and try your hand at canoeing and kayaking all in the beauty of the great outdoors!

Tie – Dye Mania
Saturday, July 30 | 12-4pm| Mactaquac Provincial Park | FREE with a vehicle entry fee
Ever wondered how to make awesome artwork your can wear? This beginner session will teach the basics of how to tie-dye fabric, and how to create designs. A limited number of T-shirts and socks will be available, but participants are welcome to bring their own fabric (white cotton gives the best results).It is recommended to wear old clothes in case of stains.

Sunday, July 31 | 12-4pm | York Centennial | FREE
The best of summer all rolled into 1 day!  Bring the family out to Mactaquac Provincial Park at York Centennial, and try out some great ways to have fun and get active. Activities include:  Big Bowling -Outdoor Ping pong – scavenger hunts,  Hunt - Pine Cone Bird Feeders –Tetherball, Box hockey, Washer toss, kite making, solar power mini car races (weather permitting), Mini-Golf, and more. Feeling the heat? Cool down with our water activities including: Water Rockets, Slip and Slide, hay bale wading pool, and our BUBBLE ZONE play area featuring Giant Bubbles!

Sandcastle Competition
Monday, August 1 | 1-4pm | Mactaquac Provincial Park Main Beach | FREE with vehicle entry fee
Put your sandcastle building skills to the test as you compete individually or as a team making the most awesome sand castle you can. The only rule is you can only use what you find on the beach.  Basic sand toys will be provided! No registration necessary. Please dress for the weather. There is no rain date for this event.

Buried Treasure Scavenger Hunt
Saturday, August 6 | 12-4pm | York Centennial | FREE
Ayy mateys! Come to Mactaquac Provincial Park and search for buried treasure during our Buried Treasure Scavenger Hunt taking place at York Centennial by Mactaquac Park. Search for clues to find out where X marks the spot. It’s easy and fun for the whole family. Participants will receive a bag of odd tools to solve mysteries along the way. What treasure will you discover?

Outdoor Play Day
Saturday, August 13 | 12-4pm | York Centennial | FREE
Get out and get active. Bring the family and spend the day at Mactaquac Provincial Park and take part in fun and creative crafts and outdoor activities for kids of all ages. Want to cool down, check out our super sprinkler, or come make homemade ice cream at our DIY ice cream bar. Interested in how solar power works? Come check out our portable solar power demonstration. Other activities will include tissue box cars, sock grass pets, mini golf, box hockey, scavenger hunts, volleyball, badminton and more!  Be sure not to miss out on this fun filled day!

Family Beach Day
Saturday, August 20 | 12-4pm | Mactaquac Provincial Park Main Beach | FREE with vehicle entry fee
Bring the family out to the Mactaquac Main Beach on Saturday, and enjoy crafts and activities for all ages through reusing/ recycling. Create your own egg carton garden, acrylic paint driftwood art, soda bottle planters, solar power s’mores (weather permitting), soda bottle rockets, tissue box cars, super sponge splashers, homemade paper, and more!
